he perfect marriage between explosive physicality and the power of contemporary storytelling, Rubberbandance Group burst onto the Montreal dance scene in 2002 with a thoroughly original movement vocabulary that combines the dexterity of breakdance and the urban energy of hip-hop with the fluid elegance and striking technique of ballet. Led by choreographer and dancer Victor Quijada, the group performs Loan Sharking—a collection of works from the company’s repertory that ranges from the elegant, Stravinsky-accompanied Dr Ib Erif to the meditative and dreamlike Punto Ciego, as well as pieces backed by the music of Antonio Vivaldi and Dave Brubeck. With a sense of humor infused into the troupe’s athleticism and grace, Rubberbandance Group is "up to all challenges, and it's a joy to watch" (The State).
