"One Green Earth" with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra
Starts at 9:30 am & 11:30 am
Green Up Vermont celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2010, and the VSO joins the campaign to safeguard our precious environment! Veteran entertainer, educator, and Children’s Music Hall of Famer Bill Shontz emcees this multimedia concert, with musical selections that reflect a reverence for the natural world, like Copland’s Shaker tune ‘Tis a Gift To Be Simple, Guthrie’s This Land Is Your Land, and newer pieces like Green Up, One Earth, and The Hole in the Ozone. Powerful images of Vermont’s Green Up Day and Earthwatch’s stunning video about environments around the world illustrate the precious resources we are called to protect. Stay tuned for an in-school contest for instruments made of recycled materials!
