Embracing Summer 2015 with Power to the She
Posted June 12, 2015
Here at Athleta Church Street we are so excited for our very first summer in Burlington, Vermont. We’ve had such a blast thus far with our new store creating community connections and building and sharing our brand. At Athleta our motto is “Power to the She”. Our muse is not a fictitious character, but every real woman who is out there working, sweating, and always reaching for amazing. She is living a life in motion and we are here to support her from her product needs to her fitness goals, and everything in between. We have a very well-rounded and enthusiastic staff so there is always someone in store to relate to, or offer tips about, your latest fitness pursuits - or to offer some fashion and styling advice!
Every Athleta hosts complimentary in-store events where we get to hand pick new and exciting classes to feature. Our classes change monthly and can always be found on our in-store calendar and online. For example, this May we hosted Less Mills classes in partnership with Body Resolution of South Burlington. We were also able to co-sponsor the PUBVCM and host Yoga for Athletes classes leading up to the marathon. Classes have been taught by prominent members of our Burlington fitness community, including some of our very own yoga certified employees. It has been such a pleasure to work with all of our local instructors and we are so excited for all that is to come!
This past weekend we were able to sponsor local women in the Vermont City Marathon. We had two marathon runners, both staff members, Hannah and Rebecca, and a relay team of Sarah DeGray and Annie Strout. We set up a 'cheer station' where family members could create custom cheer cards for their loved ones! Sarah DeGray, from Rev Indoor Cycling also hosted an active recovery seminar on behalf of Athleta at the marathon expo. Getting involved in the Burlington Vermont community is like no other. It's great to see how supportive everyone is of one another, and how we can elevate each other in life and fitness goals.
Nationwide on Sunday June 21st , every city will have an Athleta sponsored Summer Solstice Yoga Event! Last year at our Times Square event, we had over 11,000 yogis getting their savasana on! For the first ever Burlington Vermont Summer Solstice Event we are partnering with Cilla, owner of the new yoga studio Sukha Yoga. (Our neighbor located at 100 Church Street.) There will be an outdoor yoga class, complimentary to all, taking place on the top block of Church Street. Following class, we are collaborating with local vendors such as the Vermont Juice Co., massage therapists, aura readers, and more to come! It will be an opportunity for us to give back while creating an amazing yoga festival vibe right in downtown Burlington.
We look forward to seeing you in the store and at some of our events during the summer!
