There's always something exciting happening on Church Street! See our schedule of major upcoming events below, plus keep up to date with all events in downtown Burlington at www.churchstmarketplace.com/calendar.
Twelve locally owned Church Street food vendors will set up on the Mall block (between Bank Street and Cherry Street) for Food Cart Wednesdays. Food carts are nothing new on Church Street, but you’ve never seen them like this! From 4-8pm try out local favorites such as dumplings from Hong’s Chinese Dumpling cart or crepes from the Skinny Pancake cart. Food Cart Wednesday is fun for the whole family featuring face painting by “Little Artsy Faces” and music by DJ Cre8.
Local vendors include: A-Maize-ing Kettle Korn, Amir's Kebabs, Boo~kies, Hong's Chinese Dumplings, King Street Kid's Lemonade, Mama's Fried Dough and Shaved Ice, Niko's Souvlaki, South End Sliders, Taco Gordo, The Skinny Pancake, Tomgirl Juice and Wicked Mountain Hotdogs.
The Festival of Fools is a curated festival of street theater devoted to community engagement through the celebration of circus arts, music and comedy for family audiences. The Festival offers free events, open to the public and appropriate for all age groups. Festival of Fools features the best international street performers from around the globe. Four main stage locations surrounding the Church Street Marketplace and City Hall Park will feature continuous street theater, performing to over 10,000 visitors to Church Street each day. The Festival wraps up on Sunday, August 2nd with a grand finale featuring all the performers. Visit www.vermontfestivaloffools.com for a complete schedule of events.
Shop ‘til you drop at the Church Street Marketplace Annual Sidewalk Sale! From August 5-7, Church Street merchants display their wares both inside and outside of their stores. Many businesses extend their sales through the weekend. Find the best deals of the season at all your favorite retailers! The 5th Annual Yoga on Church Street event will be held on Sunday, August 9th from 9am-Noon on the Top Block of Church Street. This free outdoor yoga extravaganza benefits Prevent Child Abuse Vermont. Participants bring their own yoga mat. Donations are accepted at http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/yogaonchurchstreet/2015 plus red donation boxes will line the marketplace on the day of the event. Enter to win dozens of amazing prizes at the Yoga on Church Street raffle with all proceeds going to Prevent Child Abuse Vermont.
August 15 - Pink Day
The American Cancer Society of Vermont will host the Kick Off to their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on the Church Street Marketplace and in Burlington Town Center on Saturday, August 15th. Church Street will come alive with all things pink to celebrate survivors, raise awareness and encourage donations to Making Strides. Athleta Church Street will host a free yoga class, stores will offer 10% off to those wearing pink clothes or pink ribbons in support of Making Strides. You can find pink ribbons available for donations of $2 each in participating stores from August 7-15. Burlington Town Center will host make-overs and other fun activities in the center court by Macy’s.
August 27 - Stowe Mountain Resort Concert Series featuring Josh Panda
Stowe Mountain Resort will be back on the Marketplace starting August 27th! Visit their tent and gondola in front of Homeport every weekend through October to enter to win a FREE Stowe 7 Season Pass, get information on the Evolution Stowe Card and more!
On the brink of releasing his 4th album, Josh Panda returns to Church Street with new songs performed with the same explosive energy and honesty you have come to expect. Josh just released a brand new music video featuring the first track “Stick a Fork in Me” – an important and powerful exploration of how our culture’s views on gay marriage have shifted over the decades leading us to the Supreme Court ruling at the end of June. September 3 - Stowe Mountain Resort Concert Series featuring Rick and the Ramblers
Back on Church Street for one of their favorite shows of the year, Rick & The All-Star Ramblers Western Swing Band are basking in the glory of having received the Academy of Western Artists “2015 Western Swing Song of the Year” honors at the 19th Annual Will Rogers Awards Ceremony in Dallas, Texas on March 28th. The Burlington-based eight piece western swing band won the award for the song “You Can’t Make It Up” written by Rick Norcross and released on the 2014 “Welcome to OUR Vermont” CD on the Airflyte Records label.
September 10 - Stowe Mountain Resort Concert Series featuring Kat Wright
The Burlington, VT area Kat Wright & the Indomitable Soul Band create music that has something in common with their name. Size. Eight people deep, their sound is so big and emotionally charged that it floods the room and practically overflows out the venue doors, leaving in it’s wake an audience that’s bobbing and dancing to the groove. They're now among the areas most dynamic live acts, thrilling audiences at clubs all over the region with irresistibly danceable classic soul sounds - featuring rarities & originals. Get ready to get down to the deep, emphatic grooves of rising vocalist Kat Wright and the all-star Indomitable Soul Band.
September 11 - Fashion's Night Burlington
Celebrating all things style and glamour in the Queen City at Fashion’s Night Burlington on the Marketplace! Get your photo taken on the red carpet, enter to win amazing prizes plus enjoy great deals and treats at Church Street businesses. Shop at your favorite boutiques while they play live music, serve delicious refreshments and offer special FNB discounts. Participating merchants will include: Ecco, Sweet Lady Jane, Whim Boutique, Jess Boutique, Stella-Mae, Spellbound Vermont and many more!
September 17 - Stowe Mountain Resort Concert Series featuring Busk and Rye
Busk and Rye got their start captivating passersby on the Church Street Marketplace with their bluegrass, country, and folk-infused tunes. Members of this eclectic trio can be found playing around town on multiple instruments. A Busk and Rye show is full of warm harmonies and high energy – a combination irresistible to audiences of all ages. The trio has since branched out into Vermont’s outdoor venues and nightclubs, though their home will always be singing on the streets of Burlington.
September 24 - Stowe Mountain Resort Concert Series featuring Radio Underground
If Burlington Vermont needed to boast of a supergroup the Radio Underground would make the short list. The band is fronted by Arty LaVigne (John Tower Group, North End Rhythm Kings) on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Mark Christensen (Brooklynn's Ghost Ghost, Stone Document and projects with Robert Fripp) on lead guitar and atmosphere, Chris Simard (The Proper, Chuck the Plains) on bass and Andrew Bedard (People are Strange, Intergalactic Taxi, The Amida Bourbon Project) on drums. They combine forces to take roots rock and Americana into space and beyond.
